J.C. and Anna Tretter’s San Diego Winter Wedding

I was living in Chicago when JC and I met. At the time, he was playing for the Green Bay Packers and I was working in management consulting.

We moved to Cleveland in 2017, when JC started playing for the Browns. For the past 7 years, JC has gone to San Diego every January through March for his offseason training. We fell in love with the city, the warm weather, and the incredible food scene.

When JC and I got engaged, we looked at our schedules and decided February or March was the best time to get married. That would give us a nice window between the end of the NFL season and spring football in April. Once we settled on a date, we both agreed San Diego was the perfect destination for our winter-but-not-winter wedding.

Despite heavy rain and hail (very much not normal weather for San Diego!), the celebration was magical. Our planning team improvised with a tented lawn ceremony, and between the white drapes surrounding the tent, the white aisle, and the pops of bright green in the floral arrangements lining the aisle, it felt like an intimate garden oasis. The rain cleared just before the ceremony began, and we enjoyed warm sunshine for the rest of the day.

Walking down the aisle towards JC, I felt confident in my Zalen by St. Patrick Studio Collection dress. The train looked stunning laid out behind me, and I felt elegant yet comfortable in the mermaid-style wedding dress.

The light fabrics flowed with every step, and I love how it looks in the wedding photos and videos. When we were ready to dance the night away, it was easily bustled and easy to move around in.

The flowing mermaid-style skirt is complemented by the more form-fitting bodice. The crystal tulle and beaded appliques on the threaded embroidery were subtle details that captured beautifully in our pictures. The bodice also blends into the skin on my neck and back, creating an almost seamless effect between the dress and my natural skin.

We are so grateful to have had the wedding of our dreams, surrounded by our closest family and friends. It was a perfect memory we’ll treasure forever.
