When coming to your first bridal appointment, it’s completely normal to be a little nervous and not know what to expect! After all, it is the first time you’ll see yourself in a wedding dress, and regardless of whether that first dress ends up being the one or not, it’s a big moment for a lot of brides! If you’re at all worried about your appointment, here are our best tips and advice for brides coming to their first bridal appointment.
For your appointment, wear underwear that won’t distract you from the dress—we recommend wearing only nude or white, so that it blends in with the dress rather than disrupting your image of the gown. You want the best idea of what the dress will look like on your wedding day!
We recommend getting ready the morning before your appointment. There’s no need to go full glam like you might on your wedding day, but a touch of mascara or concealer will make it easier to picture yourself in the dress on your wedding day. A touch of makeup could be the difference between a yes and a no!
Bring a few guests with you to your appointment! Having trusted loved ones with you will help you make any tough choices if you’re torn between multiple dresses. However, while we want you to bring guests to support you, we recommend being picky about which guests you bring—only bring those who have your best interests at heart. Sometimes, an unwanted opinion can make you unsure about a gown you otherwise loved, which is why it’s key to only bring those who you know are there to be your supporters.
Come Inspired and Open Minded
When coming to your appointment, bring along photos of wedding dresses you’ve liked on Pinterest or in magazines, and show them to your consultant! This helps us get a better idea of your personal style and what types of dresses you’re drawn to. That being said, we recommend keeping an open mind! You’d be surprised by how many brides come in wanting one dress and leave with something completely different.
